✟ Giancarlo Chisci

Please accept my sincere condolences.

I remember Giancarlo from the late 1980s and early 90s when I was a young researcher. He was a real gentlemen. Always friendly and helpful to young members of the EUROSEM project team and a very dapper dresser! I know that he was instrumental in convincing the commission to fund the EUROSEM project and a major influence in promoting soil conservation as an issue to be taken seriously – and as both areas have been key to my career I owe him my thanks.

My sincere condolences to the family of prof. Giancarlo Chisci.
I will remember Prof. Chisci as a great and energetic scientist, who played a very important role in soil erosion research in Europe and beyond. He initiated several multi-scale soil erosion research projects in Italy that inspired many researchers. During my scientific career I learned to know him as a very kind and pleasant person, with whom I had most interesting discussions issues.
May his soul rest in peace.

I am very sad to learn of the passing of Professor Giancarlo Chisci. As a fellow scientist, I had the honour to meet him at several international conferences. Professor Chisci made an immense contribution to the advancement of science and he will be sorely missed, at both a personal and professional level. RIP.
